Change rarely moves in a straight line.
You may see good weeks followed by hard days, honest conversations followed by regression, or hope followed by disappointment. That back and forth can feel destabilizing.
But change around alcohol and substance use is rarely smooth. People often move through awareness, effort, instability, and gradual integration. Progress and regression can exist in the same month.
If this applies right now, zoom out. Look at the last three to six months, not just today. Notice small shifts, and at the same time protect your own energy. Steadiness does not mean self-sacrifice.
