The Hello Steady risk assessment looks beyond a single behavior.
It asks people to consider six domains: genetics and family exposure, stress load and nervous system patterns, mental health and emotional regulation, environment and access, coping patterns, and protective factors.
The goal is not to label someone. It is to widen the frame. Risk is more understandable when you can see the system around it, including what raises vulnerability and what strengthens steadiness.
Protective factors matter as much as elevated ones. Honest relationships, supportive routines, and a sense of meaning can reduce vulnerability over time.
The more clearly someone can see the system, the easier it becomes to make informed, compassionate adjustments instead of reacting from shame.
